On this day in...

1993 - Scotty Bowman stepped down as head coach of the Penguins. Bowman's record was 95-53-16, with a .628 winning percentage. Bowman was the only coach to lead the team to the President's Trophy (1992-93).

1995 - The Pens lost to the New Jersey Devils, 4-1, and were eliminated from the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

1996 - Pens goalie Tom Barrasso stopped 28 shots from the Florida Panthers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals, for his fifth post-season shutout with Pittsburgh.
